Acolytes of shirija gain special magical powers when evil - but are similarly punished when good. Once appointed, an acolyte may not change his or her affiliation without changing his very body. Acolytes who are in favor with the Godess gain some ability to avoid death; for the most favored of acolytes, She may even take their opponent instead of them. However, those who are out of favor will find death gradually creeping up on them, stalking them, and generally making a pest of itself.
